The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is proud to announce the selection of two Outstanding Graduates for 2014. Brian Atkinson (Computer Science major) and Daria Horinbein (Information Systems major) were nominated and voted on by faculty members in the department.
Brian W. Atkinson
is a graduating senior in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. As an undergraduate, Brian completed two
summer research internships
at Clemson University in the area of
parallel file systems
and will be starting graduate school in the
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
at Clemson in Fall 2014. Prior to starting graduate school, Brian will
for the summer at the
Los Alamos National Laboratory
where he will be working with a
software fault injection
tool that is used to predict how large numeric simulations behave in the presence of different types of data corruption. Brian is graduating with an overall GPA of 4.0.
Daria Horinbein is a graduating senior Information Systems major with a minor in Business Administration. Prior to this degree, Daria completed a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management with honors. Daria is a member of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, an International Honor Society for the Computing and Information disciplines, and Golden Key International Honor Society. She recently traveled to the ACM Computer Science Education conference in Atlanta to present her team software engineering project on developing Leap Motion programs. She is graduating with an impressive 4.0 overall GPA.
